In a major move to modernize the education system, the Punjab government has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a new subject in all public schools across the province, marking a significant shift toward digital and future ready learning.
The announcement was made by Maryam Nawaz, who shared the update on her official X account. She stated that AI education has been rolled out from today in government schools, ensuring that every student, without discrimination, gains access to modern digital and analytical skills.

AI Education Rolled Out Across Punjab Schools
According to the chief minister, the introduction of AI as a subject aims to prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the digital era. She emphasized that students studying in public schools must not be left behind in a world increasingly driven by technology, data, and automation.
Maryam Nawaz described the initiative as a “historic digital leap”, highlighting Punjab’s ambition to lead the country in education reform and innovation.

AI Teacher in Every Public School
Under the new program, the Punjab government has ensured that an AI teacher will be available in every public school. As part of the initial phase, 1,000 teachers have already been trained as AI Master Trainers, who will lead the implementation and training process at the school level.
These master trainers will play a key role in helping students understand basic to advanced concepts of Artificial Intelligence in a simplified and practical manner.
Curriculum to Be Fully Integrated Within 60 Days
Officials confirmed that the AI curriculum will be fully integrated within 60 days. The subject will gradually become part of regular classroom learning, allowing students to develop critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills relevant to modern careers.
The curriculum is expected to focus on foundational AI concepts, digital literacy, and real world applications, keeping the learning level appropriate for school students.

Equal Access to Modern Education
The chief minister stressed that the initiative is designed to ensure equal access to modern education tools for all students studying in government schools, regardless of their background. By introducing AI education at the school level, the Punjab government aims to bridge the digital divide and equip young learners with skills needed for future job markets.
A Step Toward Future Ready Punjab
Education experts have welcomed the decision, calling it a progressive step toward aligning Pakistan’s education system with global trends. With AI now becoming part of school education, Punjab is positioning itself as a leader in preparing students for technology-driven careers.
The introduction of Artificial Intelligence as a subject reflects the government’s broader vision to transform public education and empower the next generation with knowledge and skills essential for the digital age.
